Terms and conditions for admission to Austria

Higher education institutions accept applications for bachelor’s and master’s degrees twice a year, i.e., at the beginning of each semester:

  • by September 5 to enroll before the winter semester;
  • by February 5 to enroll for the summer semester.

Many universities in Austria offer study options for Ukrainians, but certain requirements must be met.

Applicants must provide proof of financial solvency and may be admitted if they have the same level of education as Austrian school graduates. Applicants for master’s programs are required to provide a bachelor’s degree from an equivalent European educational institution.

Therefore, if the institution where the applicant studied does not meet these requirements, they must take preparatory courses or study for two years at a more prestigious university.

Advantages of studying in Austria

Why does higher education in this country have such an impeccable reputation? And how did the work of Austrian universities become a model for Ukrainians?

Partnership

Universities constantly collaborate with each other and with leading companies in many industries. Cooperation between institutions multiplies joint efforts, and links with companies make learning more practical and relevant.

A strong start to your career

Students at Austrian universities are often given the opportunity to gain their first practical experience in companies operating on the global market. International exchanges and internships are popular there.

Features of education

Purely academic activities are popular at Austrian higher education institutions. Here, students engage in practical training, scientific activities, and extracurricular life: traditional parties, visits to exhibitions, museums, and cultural events. However, they acquire professional skills exclusively through internships.

Budget rates

Instead of the usual tuition fees, many public institutions only require a semester fee of approximately €740. And most students study under scholarship programs completely free of charge.

Understanding

Teachers are understanding of how students plan their schedules. Working outside of one’s field of study is normal for young people, because not everyone has a scholarship, and even then, it only covers the bare necessities. Therefore, the university values student results more than attendance.

We create comfortable conditions

Bureaucracy begins with visa centers and other government agencies. All communication with us is convenient and fast because it takes place online.

We open up new opportunities

Most students at regular universities are unaware that they have options for academic mobility — to study abroad. We correct this misunderstanding.

We make opportunities possible

Whether a student will be able to enroll abroad depends on one thing: whether they know a foreign language. We teach languages and prepare students for exams in English (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge ESOL) and German (TELC C1 HS, Goethe-Zertifikat C2, TestDaF).

Frequently asked questions and answers about studying in Austria

What documents are required for admission to an Austrian university?

An electronic application form, a copy of your passport, notarized and translated (into German/English) educational documents (possibly with an apostille), a transcript of grades, a letter of motivation in the language of instruction, a language exam certificate, a 3.5×4.5 cm photo, resume (CV), and additionally, a birth certificate, certificate of no criminal record, and registration may be required. We recommend that you contact us, as each higher education institution has its own requirements.

What level of language proficiency is required: German or English?

Students can choose which language to study in. However, it is important to understand that there are fewer programs in English in Austria than in German, so it is necessary to find out which language is used to teach the chosen specialty. The level must be sufficient to understand and reproduce knowledge. A person perceives and interprets academic information truthfully and comprehensively when they understand by ear, read, write, and communicate at levels not lower than B1-B2.

Do you help with applying for a student visa to Austria?

Yes, we help with submitting documents, coordinate the actions of the applicant, and communicate with visa centers during the visa application process. This is one of the stages of admission abroad. It is quite difficult to travel to Austria, because in this country, documents are examined in great detail, and in case of any errors, customs officers prohibit a person from entering the country for a long period of time. That is why we offer assistance, because it is easy for someone without experience to make a mistake.

Are Austrian diplomas recognized outside the country?

Yes, diplomas from Austrian higher education institutions are among the most significant educational documents in Europe and are deservedly recognized by employers in many countries around the world. First of all, in EU countries. Students from Austrian universities are welcome to work in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, France, Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, Denmark, Finland, and Norway. And also in the US, Canada, the UAE, and many Asian countries.

Are there programs for applicants who do not know German?

Yes, some programs are taught in English. So students do not need to worry if they do not know German, but before applying, they need to do some research and find out where they can study their chosen subject in English.
